FILIP SKLAVENITIS

Filip Sklavenitis was born on March 13rd 1979 in Athens, Greece.
At a very young age, his interest in music became evident as he spent hours upon hours at home trying to learn to play the musical instruments his father, an amateur composer, had lying around in the house.
At the age of seven he began taking his first guitar lessons at the Conservatory. At the age of ten he began his studies on modern theory and harmony and at the age of thirteen he began playing gigs with local school bands, but also in small stages, experimenting in different kinds of music, from jazz and rock to traditional Greek music.
At age 17 he passes the exams to Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus in the Department of Accounting and Finance (http://www.puas.gr/index.php/en/).
while studying Classical guitar and Classical harmony.
In 2004 he receives a scholarship from the conservatory where he studied and completes his studies that same year with a degree in Classical guitar, rated excellent.
In 2005 he earns his degree in classical harmony rated excellent and at the same time completes his studies at the University.
All this time he plays dozens of gigs with bands and famous artists of the Greek music scene while also giving guitar lessons.
After 2005 he gave classical and electric guitar lessons in Attica Conservatories and worked as a session musician in bands, solo artists and studio sessions.
In 2007 he decides to broaden the range of his teaching and musical knowledge and takes qualifying examinations at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the Netherlands in the modern department where he is admitted. For personal reasons at the time he couldn’t leave Greece, so he decides to take a qualifying exam at the The University of the Aegean (UAegean) in the Department of Primary Education (http://www1.aegean.gr/aegean2/index.html) where he successfully passes. In 2010 he completed his studies there alongside a degree in English.
